I have this new found interest in relaxing, meditating and an appreciation for my own spiritual health so I had my very first Reiki session yesterday.  This was performed by my good friend and Massage Therapist Angela Dorenzo.

I had never even heard of Reiki until recently.   I had no idea what to expect, but I was certainly curious and anxious to have one.

Reiki is a holistic healing art for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things.
You can click here to learn more about Reiki.

Let me tell you about the setting for the session.    Angie’s room was definitely a relaxation oasis with soothing, sound healing music, a trickling waterfall and an essential oil blend diffusing throughout.   I wish I would have thought to have Angie take a pic of me on the table.

I thought that I would not be able to relax enough because I am very tense.  Sometimes I don’t even know how tightened up I am until I start hurting.

As Angie begins the session with a guided meditation, I am hoping relaxation sets in.  I soon realize that my muscles are starting relax because I can actually feel them move.  At one point I felt pressure in the back of my head because I must have relaxed so much that I was sinking into the table!

I never felt any warming sensation but I did feel a cold tingling.

I felt like I needed a nap when it was done, but as I was driving home my body felt like I had just had a massage!  The rest of the day and today I feel so energetic and positive.

I imagine that Reiki effects every individual differently.  I guess you’ll just have to try it for yourself.

Call Angie she is working out of locations in Southgate and Newport Michigan.

I am now an Independent Product Consultant

of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

doterra-oils

I started using essential oils a few years ago and think they are amazing.  Back then I was buying cheap oils from some  suppliers and I assumed that they were natural and pure, but I was wrong.   I have recently learned that a manufacturer of essential oils can label the product as pure because it was pure prior to chemicals being added to it.   I now use only CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) essential oils in my products and for my personal use.

This is also a GREAT addition to my Pillows of Lavender business , more relaxing, soothing and healing for everyone!

I can’t wait to share the wellness benefits of using essential oils with others.  I’ll be showing off my new essential oil blog soon.

Tell me Thursday- About Green Smoothies

Tell Me Thursday

My Wordless Wednesday image is just a green smoothie people, nothing gross or disgusting as it may appear to some. Although it did scare my 13 yr old away from the kitchen but he is one that won’t admit to liking anything that is healthy for him.

Anyway, that particular smoothie tasted only of bananas and blueberries the spinach was the “silent” ingredient adding no spinach flavor to the concoction just a nice load of Vitamin A and Vitamin C, fiber, protein and a whole lot of GREEN color. Notice the pieces of blueberry that didn’t get “smooth”, well I am not privileged enough to own the all mighty Vita-Mix ……yet. Maybe when I advance from green smoothie novice to pro, I’ll reward myself.

What is a green smoothie you ask?

A Green Smoothie is fresh fruit blended with leafy greens. I learned this and much more by signing up for the Green Smoothie 3 Day Challenge which by the way I found through Twitter friends of mine and it’s been fun hearing about their trials.  I have been trying different recipes and practicing before I start my challenge.
No, I do not plan on replacing all of my meals for 3 days, I would fail for sure. I do plan on replacing my lunch for 3 days and then after that my goal is to include one green smoothie per day into my diet. I love veggies but I am not a big fruit eater so this will be a major accomplishment for me.

Why should you drink green smoothies?

This is not just for the raw foodist, vegans, vegetarians. This for the human being who wants to improve their health, lose weight, fight disease or just feel great. This is for men, women and children.

Imagine all the green smoothie moustaches

Come on, go get your green and get healthy!
